We’re back with Part 2 of my November Reading Log! We are wrapping up this busy month’s reading and getting into the final month of 2024. This has been a great year for me, and I’m glad I picked reading back up. So, let’s get into the important question:

Did I Hit My Reading Goal?

In part one, I talked about how I set a reading goal for myself this month of 15 books. Last time, we covered six of the books that I read, but did I actually hit 15 this month?

Answer is…. No, I didn’t. And that’s ok!

This month I was able to read 11 books which I still consider a huge accomplishment because I limited my screen time and eliminated doomscrolling again for this month. I was also really busy with the blog and beginning my freelance journey. All things considered, I’m really happy with my progress this month.

Let’s get to the books!

November Reading Log Part 2

The Many Lives of Mama Love by Lara Love Hardin
  • Memoir
  • 390 pages
  •  A memoir of a woman who is trying to maintain a picturesque life as a mother, wife, and business owner while battling heroin addiction. She loses everything and goes to jail where she has to fight to rebuild her life. A wonderful redemption story that seems almost too good to be true. Life gets hard and mistakes are made but we love a happy ending. Highly Recommend this one.
  • 4/5
Big Swiss by Jen Beagin
  • Novel/LGBT
  • 552 pages
  •  A truly bizarre novel about a woman who falls in love with another woman who is the subject of her transcription job: transcribing a therapist’s sessions. This might be my favorite book of the year so far. It was like a sucker punch, so unexpectedly good. A contender for top books this year, definitely!
  • 5/5 Recommend!
World Travel by Anthony Bourdain
  • Narrative travel guide
  • 606 pages
  •  Wanted to shift gears here away from novels and just pick up something different that I could skim through. I’m a huge Bourdain fan and this was available on Libby so it was a no-brainer. I did not read this book really just skimmed a few pages on some places that sounded interesting, a bit of a palette cleanser if you will. DNF
The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice
  • Vampire horror novel
  • 971 pages
  • This was actually my first Anne Rice book. I’ve never read Interview with a Vampire, but I loved the movie. This book was a slow burn for me. It took me a while to get into it but by the time I got to “Those Who Must Be Kept” I was hooked! I can’t wait to read Interview and then the other books in this series. I also got some cool recs for other Anne Rice books from Facebook! I try to be active there so follow the page <3
She Lies Close by Sharon Doering

  • Psychological Thriller
  • 481 pages
  • This story is a perfect personification of a mother’s anxiety. We follow our main character, Grace who has recently learned that her new next door neighbor is a suspect in a child’s kidnapping and murder and the case begins to consume her. This one was full of twists and I genuinely loved it. Would absolutely recommend it.
  • 5/5!

Final Count and Future Reading Goals

If you’re keeping tabs, that makes the total books I read this month 11 (Not counting my DNF). I’ve enjoyed my reading challenges the past couple of months, but I don’t think I’ll be issuing myself any reading challenges in the future.

This blog is about helping mothers and women improve themselves through their hobbies and interests and I include myself in that! I feel that I have been able to establish a routine to reduce my overall screen time on social media by replacing it with reading. I will continue to read at my own pace and bring monthly reading logs to the blog as well as book reviews when I can!

What to Expect in December?

My focus will mainly be on growing the blog, engaging with others and building a community, and continuing to be the best mom I can be! Now that we are heading to December, get ready for Christmas crafts, travel experiences, and tips and advice going into the holiday season.
